Rurouni Kenshin
Rurouni Kenshin takes place around in mid 1800s during the age of the Meiji Revolution and the end of the Bakamatsu era. During this time, samurai were forbidden from carrying swords and a corrupt government was ruling Japan attempingt to make Japan a one economic system. In the ten years of the Meiji Era (1878), a vagabond swordsman is found wandering the streets of Tokyo. A strange man, has an x-shaped scar on his left cheek, carries a reverse-bladed sword and only wants to be left alone. Until the day he met a girl named Kamiya Kaoru that accuses him of being the man claiming the identity of the legendary Hitokiri Battousai and attack him because his murdering people in the name of her family's dojo. After he defeats the real killer, she invites him to come stay at her dojo, since he got no where to go and has been wandered the countryside for nearly ten years. It's the beginning of the story of Himura Kenshin before Meiji Restoration, Himura Kenshin was known as "Hitokiri Battousai", which means the "man who slays with his sword" and causes many fighters to fall beneath his blade. He was the top assassin for the reformist group Ishin Shishi However, when meets a woman by the name of Yukishiro Tomoe and he eventually falls in love with her though she is truly out to kill him because he had assassinated her fiancé. She later falls in love with him and eventually helps ease the pain of begin a killer for many years then sadly she is killed by Kenshin. Her fiance made the first scar on Kenshin's cheek and she made the 2nd to remember her when she is killed. After the death of his love and the Bakamatsu era he vow to never kill again but he still would protect people with his reverse-bladed sword. Kenshin is a man who is trying to escape his past, and create a future for himself with the help of Kaoru and the others characters that he meets just maybe have a chance. Combining excellent sword fights with stunning animation and the artwork of Rurouni Kenshin. Rurouni Kenshin takes place in Japan during the 1870's during Japan's restoration period known as the Meiji Era. During this time economic growth, shoguns were overthrown and the government of Japan changed to include trade with Europe and the Americas. It revolves around a red-haired man named Himura Kenshin, known for his deadly sword skills in the style and art of the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu.
