Inu Yasha
Fifty years ago, a strange boy attacked the temple that holds the Shikon no Tama, a powerful ball of crystal that will give its user unsurpassable power. Pinned to a tree with a magical arrow, and a powerful barrier, the young boy is sealed forever, as is Kikyo, the young priest assigned to guard the Shikon no Tama. 50 years later. Present day. Tokyo. Its the day before her 15th birthday, and Kagome Higurashi is all set for a day of fun. Ignoring her grandfather's attempts to explain the legend of the Shikon no Tama, she instead chooses to play around and ignore him. But later the next day, she is helping her brother, Souta, look for their lost cat when she uncovers an ancient well in the shrine behind her house. Through it, a demon grabs her and drags her in, transporting her the Warring States period of Japan. To protect herself and the villagers she has befriended from the very demon that had cast her into the past, Kagome had no choice but to unleash the young boy, Inuyasha, from his resting place. With powerful villans looking to rule the world, Inuyasha and Kagome must use their wits, and their minds, to figure out how to end the reign of the evil Naraku!

Inu-Yasha one of the best anime/mangas around!^^
  Inu-Yasha
Inuyasha is a half-demon (a hanyou). He fell in love with the priestess Kikyo, who guarded the Shikon no Tama. Though determined to become human, Kikyo and Inuyasha are turned against each other from the ever mysterious Naraku. Though headstrong and inexperienced when he is awakened from the barrier placed on him by Kikyo, he gains much experience and power. He eventually turns more good then evil, aided in part by his love for Kagome

Sesshoumaru
Sesshoumaru is Inuyasha's brother. Though of the same father, Sesshoumaru is a full-blooded demon, and a powerful one at that. When Tetsusaiga, a powerful sword able to kill a hundred demons in one hit, is given to Inuyasha instead of Sesshoumaru, the brother vs. brother match begins. Sesshoumaru doesn't seem to have much of a personality outside of his quest for power. The only compassion he shows is when he saves a young human girl, Rin. As far as his being a demon is concerned, he can transform into a gigantic dog-like demon, in reminisence of his father.

Naraku
Born out of all the evil in the world, Naraku is an immensely powerful being. At first a wounded bandit under the care of Kikyo, his desire for power led him to want more. Using the Shikon no Tama, he creates various beings that he is able to "control", though they think for themselves. He trusts no one, but he entrusts the Shikon no Tama to enemies of Kagome and Inuyasha.

Kagome
Kagome was an ordinary school girl until she was attacked by a large demon that appeared from an old, sacred well in the back of her home. Transported to a mysterious feudal world, she frees Inuyasha in order to save her from the very demon that dragged her into this feudal era. Through a hilarious "sit" spell, which causes Inuyasha's head to come smashing to the ground when Kagome yells "Sit", Kagome travels with Inuyasha in the search for the Shikon no Tama. She's very caring, but skilled with the bow, which carriers with it the power of a priestess that she has within her.

Miroku
Miroku can only be described as a pervert. Though a monk, he'll ask any woman in sight to "bear his child". He has his own motives, however. His father had a spell cast on him by Naraku, which caused an air-void to appear in his hand. Though his powers as a monk are powerful in their own right, his air-void is his most powerful ability.
